Life Skills Coordinator

Summary

The life skills instructor is responsible for the implementation, instruction, and coordination of the life skills programming for the facility residents. The life skills instructor reports to the facility director and/or the facility clinical supervisor.


Description

• Facilitates the life skills programming for the facility.
• Completes life skills needs assessments for all individuals of the facility at intake and at discharge.
• Networks with community resources to provide a guest lecture series supplementary to the life skills programming.
• Assists in the research and development of materials necessary to supplement the curriculum.
• Communicates with staff regarding client progress, problem solving and monitoring.
• Ensures that programming as described in any contract statement of work is fulfilled including community involvement activities.
• Tutors and mentors clients when necessary.
• Assists with employment preparation and job placement for clients.
• Enhances current curriculum in conjunction with corporate clinical director to include volunteer service and outside educators.

Requirements

Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and human service experience preferred. Must possess the ability to present program materials in a clear, concise, and comfortable manner and be able to effectively manage a group environment. The life skills instructor will coordinate the life skills curriculum in conjunction with the facility director. Must pass criminal background checks and possess good interpersonal skills, personal appearance and character.
