Principal Engineer, Systems Engineering

Stryker seeks a Principal Engineer to lead systems engineering for complex medical device products. This technical leader will define system architectures, drive cross-functional alignment, and ensure integration across hardware, software, connectivity, and partner technologies while championing a systems-thinking approach to innovation.

Responsibilities

Lead system architecture, technical strategy, and integration for complex medical device products
Translate customer, clinical, and business needs into system-level requirements and drive alignment
Lead requirements development, traceability, and verification planning throughout product lifecycle
Conduct system-level decision making, architecture reviews, and risk assessments
Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, and Engineering stakeholders on compliance and standards

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or Biomedical Engineering
8+ years of product development, systems engineering, or technical leadership experience
Experience developing products in regulated industry environments
Medical device product development background
Knowledge of requirements management, verification, and system-level risk management
Familiarity with FDA Design Controls, ISO 13485, or ISO 14971 standards
Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional design teams

Compensation: $118,000 - $196,700 USD Annual
