PARAMEDIC

Position Overview Functions as an integral member of the Advanced Life Support Team. Delivers sophisticated pre‑hospital emergency medical care and coordinates transportation to appropriate medical facilities. Key Responsibilities Ensures all appropriate equipment and supplies are available and maintains a neat and organized emergency transport vehicle. Performs patient assessment including a complete history, physical exam, and appropriate assessment considering patient's age and disability. Reports changes in patient condition in a timely manner to receiving facility. Complies with patient identification, safety, and comfort standards prior to any patient intervention, including specimen collection and transport. Instructs, assists, supervises, and evaluates student EMT and Paramedic performance in the pre‑hospital setting. Maintains acceptable skill levels according to policy/procedure manual, or as ordered by a Physician Medical Commander. Qualifications Education: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of a Paramedic program. Registration/Certification/Licensure: Current PA Dept. of Health Paramedic license; Healthcare Provider CPR, ACLS, PALS, EVOC, First Response Hazmat, Act 33/73 clearances; Completion of an Advanced ITLS course. Experience: Minimum two years of Paramedic experience. Status: Non-Exempt. Physical Requirements Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, twisting, climbing, ladder use, stair use, kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, reaching, grasping, finger manipulation, seeing, hearing, repetitive upper and lower extremity use, material handling such as pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying. Frequencies include occasional, frequent, and constant as defined. Environmental Factors Working alone (Occasional) Working in cramped quarters (Frequent) Constant interruptions (Frequent) Working with hands in water (Frequent) Exposure to bloodborne pathogens (Frequent) Other: exposure to vibration, dust, noise, electrical energy, temperature changes, slippery surfaces, solvents, radiant energy.
