Description Youth Activities Coordinator -this is a full-time (40 hours), non-exempt position, Tuesday through Saturday with flexible hours, located at our Bay View location. Program Summary The Kinship Program supports grandparents and other relatives or community members providing full-time care of kinship children in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. The program receives primary funding from the San Francisco Department of Human Services, the San Francisco Department of Adult and Aging Services, the San Mateo Department of Adult and Aging services, and private funders. Kinship services promote the care and safety of children, reduces barriers to permanency, and supports the practical, health, housing, social/emotional, vocational, and educational needs of the entire Kinship Program in East Bay/Contra Costa /Solano and SF County.
Position Summary The Youth Activities Coordinator plans and facilitates weekly social and recreational activities to kinship children and youth under the age of 18 years. The Youth Activities Coordinator serves as a mentor, offering support, guidance, and resources to youth who participate in activities. The Youth Activities Coordinator provides supervision to the Youth Activities Interns. Core Competencies ( Direct Service) Develop, plan, and facilitate weekly, out-of-home group activities for children. Activities should be planned and carried out with the safety and well-being of participants being foremost.Provide structured, time-limited activities for children whose caregivers participate in on-site services.Ensure that activities are age and culturally appropriate, and offer participants opportunities for academic, experiential, creative, healthy, and civic learning.Build supportive relationships with participants and serve as a mentor for those who seek guidance and support. Refer and link participants to relevant educational, vocational, health, and recreational services in their communities. Provide recognition for the success of participants, such as cards and celebrations for achievements, graduations, and life transitions. Manage and distribute monetary and in-kind donations for children, such as camp scholarships, gift cards, school supplies, clothing, and other items.Consult with team members to identify and engage children in activities. Relay all client information to the team and supervisor at regular briefings. Participate in on-going case reviews and trainings with the team. Serve as a leader and consultant to the team on youth issues and concerns.Work with the Program Manager to supervise and train the Youth Activities Intern.Network with other team members and agencies providing care to participants, including collaborating in family conferences, team decision making and multidisciplinary meetings.Support other program activities such as support groups, Food Bank, social events and workshops.Required to transport clients in Edgewood vehicle as needed. Contributes positively to a healing-centered, respectful workplace by engaging others with humility, care, and a commitment to honoring all identities and lived experiences. (Administration) Keep detailed case records according to program documentation standards, mandates and deadlines.Secure and maintain appropriate releases of information, authorizations to share information/photographs, permission receipts and waivers, client applications, and sign-in sheets and evaluations. Respect participant confidentiality at all times. Applied Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of motivational, mentoring, and tutoring techniques for children, youth and families.Experience working with at risk youth, elementary through high school ages.Ability to work within a team environment.High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor's degree preferred.CA driver's license, proof of auto insurance required.Demonstrated competence working with families and children from a wide variety of cultural contexts.Willingness to transport clients in communities that require heightened personal safety precautions.Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.Proven problem solving and research skills. Ability to lift 25 pounds.Willingness to work an occasional evening.Advanced computer skill, including the ability to use Microsoft office products, information databases, online search tools, and social media. The hourly rate for this position is: $25.99 and $28.59 with language differential. A language test is required.
