Cardiac Sonographer IBe a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Cardiac Sonographer I with the Echo department. This department is Heart and Vascular Imaging Center. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity, and candidates must be based in the greater Chicagoland area.Eligible for a Sign-On Bonus up to $5,000.Prepares patients for Transthoracic echo and Stress Echo procedures, reviewing indications, comparing previous studies to accurately answer all questions by referring physician. Performs all aspects of echocardiographic imaging under the direct supervision of a Cardiac Sonographer II or III and under the general supervision of the Medical Director of the Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging Laboratory.Essential Job FunctionsPreparing patients for Transthoracic echo reviewing indications, comparing previous studies to accurately answer all questions by referring physician, and communicates with patients, customers, and staff in a respectful and compassionate mannerUtilizes ISCV data archiving system and Electronic Medical Records system to record, charge and report proceduresActively participates in process improvement activitiesInvolved in research and publications to be at the cutting edge of the fieldPerforms other duties assignedRequired QualificationsHigh School Graduate or equivalentRegistration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and pass the registry within one year of hireCurrent Basic Cardiac Life Support CertificationAt least one (1) year of experience in ultrasound procedures equipment, CW Doppler, and related anatomy and pathological conditions of the heart, valves, pericardium, and blood vesselsIndependently perform a complete transthoracic examination with appropriate use of contrast when necessaryComputer literate to work with applicable softwarePerform quantitative echocardiographic measurements for reportingDemonstrates responsibility for checking orders and obtaining orders for testingPreferred QualificationsFive (5) years of experience in ultrasound procedures equipment, CW Doppler, and related anatomy and pathological conditions of the heart, valves, pericardium, and blood vesselsPosition DetailsJob Type/FTE: Full-Time (1.0 FTE)Shift: Rotational 4 Day Work Week (10-hour shifts): Day Shift (7:30 am - 6:00 pm), every other weekendWork Location: OnsiteUnit/Department: Echo Department – Hyde ParkCBA Code: Non-UnionAbout UsWe've been at the forefront of medicine since 1899.
