Job Summary

This role is primarily responsible for the identification, monitoring, evaluation, and coordination of existing and emerging risks to the Power Generation System to ensure the optimization of generating units. Serves as a liaison between the Stations, Energy Supply, Electric Environmental Services (EES), Systems Operations Center (SOC) and other groups to optimize unit dispatch and prioritize operational issues, schedules operating and maintenance activities to minimize the impact to System performance. Tracks and monitors generating unit's capability changes, reliability, return dates, operating constraints, start-up and minimum run times. Works closely with Energy Supply's Market Operations staff, station management and support groups to determine the generator unit(s) scheduling strategy to meet System requirements, and directs the implementation of that strategy through station management. Monitors, adjusts and communicates the strategy as changes on the actual System occur. Interacts professionally with all internal and external clients by providing exceptional customer service and teamwork at all levels. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: Monitoring all input data to the scheduling and transaction database for accuracy and resolves discrepancies. Provides assistance to management and requestors in the administration of Dominion's Power Generation System and Energy Market. Utilizes analytical skills such as critical thinking, conceptual and intuitive thinking to analyze high risk situations, generate options and approaches while considering how the solution may impact the organization. Provides operational and technical advice and guidance to stations and management. Maintains records and logs of all pertinent scheduling and transaction related information used in after-the-fact analysis and reviews. Applies system and unit operational knowledge in addition to understanding of PJM market to analyze impact and make recommendations and provide information to management. Approves unit maintenance outages of generating units based on the forecasted (and revised) System requirements. Takes responsibility for evaluating and scheduling requests for unit operating and maintenance activities, while minimizing the effect on System performance and reliability. Reviews station data for accuracy. Contacts station to verify information. Provides timely and accurate reporting as required to include preparation and report of the daily morning System Operations Report, Generation Unit Status Report, and ad hoc data required for management and/or executive review.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

• 7+ years of directly related experience. (A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications)
• Thorough knowledge of power station operation and maintenance issues and processes.
• Working knowledge of typical computer programs, ie: Excel, Word, Power-Point.
• Working knowledge of power station monitoring systems, ie: PI Process Book.
• Strong technical understanding of power station operations and maintenance.
• Strong customer relationship skills, demonstrates an ability to maintain customer confidence and protect operational integrity.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal, auditory, and written. Skill in presenting technical data and present facts to various audiences.
• Strong attention to detail, verification and validation techniques with solid analytical thinking skills.
• Ability to foster teamwork and cooperation.
• Ability to work in a team-based fashion and maintain the confidentiality of information.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing industry.
• Proven ability to integrate both routine and new data from multiple sources.
• Ability to weigh costs and benefits and take appropriate action.
• Experience with power station operations supervision or coordination strongly preferred.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor

Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:

$116300 - $151100

The expected hiring base salary range is the range we anticipate hiring within for this position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and work location.
