Toolmaker – Injection Molding – Responsibilities The Tool Maker is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of precision injection molds used in thermoplastic manufacturing. Fabricate, assemble, and repair precision injection molds for thermoplastic components, ensuring dimensional accuracy and functionality. Maintain, troubleshoot, and modify injection molds to resolve molding defects and dimensional precision. Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models. Machine precision components using CNC machining, mills, lathes, surface grinders, EDM, and wire EDM. Fit and assemble mold systems. Verify dimensional accuracy using precision measurement tools. Implement mold improvements and support new mold builds or modifications. Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to diagnose tooling issues. Qualifications High School diploma (Preferred). Tool maker certification, CMM or equivalent preferred. 3–5 years experience in CNC machining, mills, lathes, surface grinders, EDM and wire EDM. Experience with injection molding tooling systems including cores, cavities, slides, ejector systems, and cooling circuits. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to use precision measurement tools.
