CHIEF HOSPITALIST PHYSICIAN

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) as determined by the VA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Qualifications United States Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from an approved VA school. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or District of Columbia. Residency training completed in an accredited core specialty training program approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies include ACGME‑approved programs, AOA‑approved programs, or other residencies with at least five years of verified U.S. practice deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee. Residency programs faculty members may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) are eligible to be appointed from ACGME or AOA residency programs and must be fully licensed physicians. PRPs are not independent practitioners and will work under supervision with a scope of practice allowing certain restricted duties. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Responsibilities The incumbent is responsible for a major specialty program or programs at a multiple division facility. Incumbent may be responsible for the Service Line within one or multiple divisions (Topeka/Leavenworth) and nine CBOCS. Incumbent may be responsible for various fund control points assigned to the program within the assigned areas. Incumbent manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day‑to‑day functioning and program evaluation. Incumbent is responsible for coordinating staffing, work assignments, budget, treatment services provided, and criteria for the programs. The Service Chief of ED/Acute Specialty Medicine/Clinical Specialty Lab is responsible for the overall clinical and administrative functions of the ED/Acute Specialty Medicine/Clinical Specialty Lab.
