District Office Receptionist

Position Summary

The District Office Receptionist serves as the welcoming first point of contact for Menahga Public Schools. This position provides friendly, professional, and efficient service to students, families, staff, visitors, and community members while supporting the daily operations of the District Office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet and assist students, families, staff, visitors, and community members in a friendly and professional manner.
• Answer and direct incoming telephone calls and respond to general inquiries.
• Monitor the District Office reception area and assist visitors with appropriate sign-in and building access procedures.
• Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail, deliveries, and other correspondence.
• Provide general information regarding district programs, procedures, events, and services.
• Assist families with registration, enrollment, forms, and other routine district paperwork.
• Direct questions and requests to the appropriate staff member or department.
• Maintain a professional and organized reception area.
• Assist with scheduling, filing, data entry, copying, scanning, and other general office duties as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling student, family, and staff information.
• Support the Superintendent, Business Office, and District Office staff with additional administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, and the public.
• Proficiency with computers, email, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and willingness to learn district-specific software.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
• Previous office or school experience preferred.

The District Office Receptionist works primarily in the District Office and interacts regularly with students, families, staff, visitors, and community members. The position requires professionalism, dependability, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy office environment.
