Military Fellowship Program: Systems Engineer

Overview SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work. NOTE: You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. This program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military. Responsibilities As a Systems Engineer, you will research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting‑edge products and services. You will develop complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms and guide them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross‑functional engineer, you are in charge of system‑level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, a prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high‑performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end‑to‑end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance and schedule requirements and consistently exceeds expectations. Qualifications Required Qualifications Currently serving as active duty military and eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program Bachelor of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline, or a qualifying amount of higher education and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience (higher education may substitute for relevant experience) Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices Experience working in multi‑disciplinary design and development teams Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles Preferred Qualifications Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB Knowledge of industry‑standard mechanical design principles, including Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Experience or certification in INCOSE standards Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry Exposure to baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including high‑impact trade studies and other measures Understanding of establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM) Salary Estimated Starting Salary Range: $85,768.30 - $117,931.40. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, education, training and certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
