L&D Manager, Brewery: Elevate Skills On the Floor

Overview We are currently hiring a Manager, Learning and Development in Cincinnati, OH. The Manager will function as a strategic partner to business leaders and leverage insights to implement and inspire learning programs that improve workforce capability building in a fast‑paced environment. This role will focus on developing and coordinating required training across the site, assisting with developing material and delivering content in meaningful ways to ensure we properly and consistently train our co‑workers. It also supports a total learning environment without production losses caused by lack of skill or poor training systems. Supported departments include Brewing, Distilling, Planning, QA, Maintenance & Utilities, Packaging, and Warehouse. The candidate must have passion for learning, ability to influence and communicate effectively, be hands‑on, present on the production floor, and flexible to support all shifts. Fluent in current learning programs, technology tools, and strong project management skills, and must ensure diversity, inclusion, and Boston Beer Company culture and values are ingrained in all learning programs. Responsibilities Build strong collaborative relationships with business leaders, coworkers, HR, vendors, and key stakeholders. Provide L&D leadership and guidance to Site and Frontline Leadership Teams. Lead the Site L&D Pillar – a cross‑functional team responsible for developing the Six Standard Work Processes (SWPs) consistent with UP Principles. Conduct skill needs assessments with Operations Support to determine site training plans based on business results, skill needs, and prioritization. Partner with Site Leadership and functional leaders to develop and prioritize new training requests. Coordinate and execute all scheduled trainings within the brewery. Coordinate and execute new hire orientation for all brewery coworkers. Define KPIs and scorecard metrics based on UP Phase progression. Create and implement standards for comprehensive role or equipment‑based curricula, exposure opportunities, learning experiences, and career progression for key roles. Function as a change agent and help coworkers develop change capabilities consistent with UP Principles. Champion delivery of L&D programs through coordination, facilitation, SME/trainer development, LMS, and other delivery methods, including new technologies. Ensure L&D programs are sustainable through continuous reinforcement and ongoing accountability. Review evaluation of SWPs and metrics and provide reporting summaries to Site Leadership Team & L&D Leadership, including lessons learned. Leadership Responsibilities Responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining engaged high‑performing coworkers. Ensure direct reports are provided clear expectations & direction, empowered, and held accountable. Build a collaborative & results‑oriented team, resolving conflicts, removing roadblocks, inspiring action, and deciding to change. Provide regular and meaningful feedback through development, coaching, and performance reviews focusing on learning, growth, and continuous improvement. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years professional experience in manufacturing, preferably in training; experience delivering programs in multiple modalities; strong project management; intermediate to expert level in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and LMS systems. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Engineering; experience in Learning and Development with a focus on training; Lean Six Sigma, Green Belt/Black Belt preferred; experience with LMS. Benefits Salary range $102,000 - $163,000, with discretionary annual bonus, possible car allowance for sales roles.
