Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Surgical Orthopedics Med-Surg – Maryland

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Maryland

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts with every other weekend required. Standard patient ratio 1:5, with flexibility to work 1:6 based on unit needs. Floating within scope as needed across the facility.

Highlights:

• 40-bed Surgical Orthopedics Med-Surg unit serving a diverse patient population
• Hybrid unit caring for both general medical and post-operative surgical patients admitted from the Emergency Department
• Surgical case mix includes orthopedics (knee, hip, shoulder replacements, spine surgery, limb lengthening), general surgery (appendectomies, cholecystectomies, colorectal procedures), bariatrics, plastics, urology, and vascular procedures
• 24-hour orientation with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy
• Cerner charting system with up to 8 hours of non-billable virtual modules completed on first day
• First-time travelers welcome; local candidates accepted

Requirements:

• Active Maryland or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6
• Basic EKG interpretation skills required
• Comfort level caring for both general medical and post-operative surgical patients required
• Orthopedic and total joint replacement experience strongly preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Willingness to float within scope across the facility as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
