Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Neuro Surgical Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for night shifts at a facility located in Newburgh, Indiana. The position involves caring for neuro and neuro-surgical patients, including those with cerebrovascular accidents, elective back and neck surgeries, post-operative cranial procedures, and cerebral angiograms. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The role requires a minimum of two years of specialized neuro experience and recent Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system proficiency.

Job Details:

• Location: Newburgh, IN
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM 7:00 AM
• Schedule: 36 hours per week guarantee; may accept 48 hours upon request
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact licensure, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, minimum of two years of neuro-specific nursing experience, one travel assignment, trauma level II experience, recent Epic EMR experience, Associate Degree or Certificate
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with NIHSS/dysphagia screening, neuro assessments, basic tele interpretation, strict I & O management, catheterization, heparin titration, blood and blood product administration, venipuncture, blood cultures, NG tube management, drain management, and stable medication drips. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills preferred.
• Float: Floating within skill set to adjacent campuses may be required with a two-hour notice.
• Additional Information: No block schedule requests are accepted; three weekends out of every six weeks and every other holiday are required. Interview days are Monday through Friday, with MSP interview type. The unit features a 37-bed capacity with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6 during days and 1:5-7 during nights. The facility boasts strong leadership and an experienced clinical team. No Covid-19 vaccine requirement at this time.
