JobSummary: TheShopManagerisresponsibleforoverseeingthedailyoperationsoftheshop,ensuringthetimelyandefficientmaintenanceandrepairofheavyequipmentanddieseltrucks.Thisisahands-onleadershiprolerequiringaseasonedprofessionalwithastrongbackgroundindieselmechanics,provenmanagementskills,andacommitmenttosafety,productivity,andcontinuousimprovement.Inadditiontomanagingshopoperationsandpersonnel,theShopManagerisexpectedtoactivelyperformmechanicaldiagnostics,maintenance,andrepairsasoperationalneedsrequire. EssentialFunctions: OwnershipandCaring. Leadandmanageateamoftechnicians,ensuringallworkiscompletedsafely,efficiently,andinalignmentwithcompanypoliciesandqualitystandards.Promoteacultureofaccountabilityandprideinworkmanship. Obligated. Serveasahands-onworkingmanagerbyactivelydiagnosing,maintaining,andrepairingheavyequipmentincludingasphaltpavers,milling&reclaimingmachines,loaders,excavatorsandotherfleetequipment.Thispositionrequirescontinuedperformanceofmechanicalrepairworkinadditiontoleadershipandmanagementresponsibilities,particularlywhenmaintainingunionmembershiporclassification. Focused. Ensureregularinspectionsandpreventivemaintenanceschedulesarecarriedouteffectivelytominimizedowntimeandextendequipmentlife. Measurement. Managepartsandmaterialsinventory,overseeprocurementprocesses,andmaintainappropriatestocklevelstosupporttimelyrepairsandminimizedelays. ResultsMatter. Recruit,train,mentor,anddeveloptechnicians,fosteringgrowthandcontinuouslearningwithintheteam.Conductregularperformanceevaluationsandprovideconstructivefeedback. CommittedtoServe. Maintainaccurateandup-to-dateservicerecords,workorders,andmaintenancelogstosupportregulatorycomplianceandoperationaltransparency. RespectandEngage. Requirements,EducationandExperience: 1.Highschooldiplomaorequivalentrequired.Associate’sorbachelor’sdegreeinDieselTechnology,BusinessManagement,orarelatedfieldstronglypreferred. 2.Minimumof7–10yearsofprogressiveexperienceindieselmechanicsandheavyequipmentmaintenance,includingatleast3–5yearsinamanagerialorseniorsupervisoryrolewithinashoporfleetmaintenanceenvironment. 3.Demonstratedexperienceoverseeingteams,managingworkflow,andaligningshopoperationswithbusinesspriorities. 4.Stronghands-onmechanicalexperiencewiththeabilityandwillingnesstopersonallyperformdiagnostics,maintenance,troubleshooting,andrepairsonheavyequipmentanddieseltrucksasneeded. 5.Deepknowledgeofheavyequipmentsystems,diagnostics,andrepairtechniques. 6.Proficiencywithdiagnostictoolsandshopmanagementsoftware. 7.Experiencemanagingmaintenanceschedules,partsprocurement,inventory,andvendorrelationships. 8.Strongleadershipcapabilitieswithexperiencemanagingbudgets,laborplanning,inventorycontrols,andperformancemetrics. 9.Provenabilitytomentorteams,leadthroughchange,andidentifyopportunitiesforcontinuousimprovement. 10.Excellentcommunicationskills,withtheabilitytocollaborateeffectivelyacrossdepartmentsincludingoperations,safety,procurement,andfinance. 11.Validdriver’slicenseandacleandrivingrecord. 12.Willingnessandabilitytoworkflexiblehours,weekends,orrespondtooperationalneedswhenrequired. 13.AuthorizedtoworkintheU.S. OtherDuties: Pleasenotethisjobdescriptionisnotdesignedtocoverorcontainacomprehensivelistingofactivities,dutiesorresponsibilitiesthatarerequiredoftheemployeeforthisjob.Duties,responsibilities,andactivitiesmaychangeatanytimewithorwithoutnotice. WorkEnvironment/PhysicalDemands: Thispositionrequirestheabilitytostand,walkandliftheavyobjectsweighingupto50lbs.ormoreforextendedperiods.Italsoinvolvesworkinginashopenvironmentwithexposuretovariousweatherconditionsandloudnoises.Candidatesmusthavesufficientphysicalstrength,visualandauditoryacuity,andprecisehand-eyecoordinationforhandlingtools,equipment,andsmallcomponentsduringrepairsandmaintenancetasks.
