Information Technology Manager

IT ManagerAbout the Role:We build everything ourselves—no off-the-shelf compromises. Our systems run our storefront, our warehouse, and our business, and they're designed exactly the way we want them. We're looking for an experienced IT Manager who combines deep technical expertise with proven people management skills to help lead that effort.This is a reporting-to-the-CTO, hands-on role: roughly 90% technical work and 10% team management. You'll have real ownership over systems, architecture, and the people who build them—with the opportunity to make a lasting impact in a stable, growing company.What You'll Do:Technical LeadershipParticipate in architecture decisions and drive the continuous improvement of our technology stackManage and mentor a small technical team, providing guidance, code review, and professional developmentCollaborate directly with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and deliver solutions that exceed expectationsDevelop and enforce IT policies, security best practices, and cybersecurity standardsHands-On DevelopmentBuild sophisticated web applications using the Kendo UI JavaScript framework with complex data grids, forms, and interactive dashboardsOversee backend services using Perl/Mojolicious and PostgREST, ensuring robust API development and system reliabilityDesign and optimize a complex PostgreSQL database (15+ schemas) with extensive use of triggers, functions, updatable views, and stored proceduresParticipate in the design, development, and maintenance of our complete e-commerce platform, including customer-facing storefronts, warehouse management systems, and internal business operations toolsOperations & AdministrationOversee and manage all aspects of our IT infrastructure, including macOS servers, deployment automation, monitoring, and performance optimizationManage vendor relationships, hardware procurement, and software licensingEnsure system uptime, backup/recovery procedures, and disaster preparednessWhat We're Looking For:Required:10+ years of professional experience developing production web applications3+ years of management or leadership experience leading technical teamsStrong proficiency in JavaScript/jQuery and experience with modern UI frameworksExperience with backend development in any language (Perl knowledge a plus, but we value strong fundamentals and the ability to learn)Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL, and database design principlesExperience with REST APIs, JSON, and web service integrationDemonstrated ability to own features end-to-end, from database to UImacOS or Linux/Unix system administration experienceStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExcellent communication skills and ability to work collaborativelyAble to provide professional references upon requestDesirable:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)Experience with mobile first UI design patterns and responsive web designIn depth knowledge of ECMAScript module development and usageExperience with PostgreSQL advanced features (triggers, functions, views, window functions, CTEs, JSON, etc)Familiarity with the Mojolicious or similar MVC web frameworksExperience with Nginx, PostgREST, or API gateway technologiesLinux/Unix/BSD/Mac system administration experienceUnderstanding of e-commerce or warehouse management systemsExperience with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD pipelinesKnowledge of cybersecurity best practicesFrontend design and UX development experienceTest-Driven Development (TDD) or Domain-Driven Design (DDD)WebSockets and real-time application developmentAI/ML development experience and demonstrated proficiency applying AI tools in a development workflow, including experience with LLM APIs and MCP server designUbiquity Unifi hardware and software experienceOur Technology Stack:Core Technologies / Tools:CategoryTechnologiesFrontendJavaScript, jQuery, Kendo UI, HTML5/CSS3BackendPerl, Mojolicious, PostgRESTDatabasePostgreSQL (advanced usage with schemas, triggers, functions, views)InfrastructureNginx, macOS, Launchd, Bash scriptingVersion ControlGit, GitHub, GitHub ActionsAPIsREST, JSON, XMLAI/LLMOpenWebUI, LLM APIs, MCP serversAdditionalDocker, PythonAbout Drip Depot:Drip Depot is a privately held online irrigation company committed to providing exceptional products and customer service.
