Substitute CustodianA vacancy exists for a Substitute Custodian within the Norristown Area School District. This position will be on an as needed basis to support the Maintenance and Operations departments on last minute absences.Requirements:Two years of FT custodial experienceExperience with Building maintenance and plumbing systemsAble to work with little supervisionAble to work cooperatively with othersGood communication skillsBilingual in Spanish preferredEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Keeps building and premise, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times; performs building cleaning tasks as necessary or directed by supervisorMonitors heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure temperatures are appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricityShovels, plows, and sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate; maintains cleanliness of groundsChecks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and are operating properly during hours of building occupancyMakes minor repairs; reports all major repairs to supervisorMaintains all mechanical equipmentReports any damage to school property to supervisorRemains on the premises during assigned hoursOpens or closes building as appropriate to shift; makes sure that all doors and windows are secured, and that all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off before leaving the building at the end of assigned shiftArms and disarms security system, as appropriate to shiftMoves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the supervisorComplies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and wastePerforms related duties as assignedHours: Vary depending on needPay Rate: $25.56/HR
