Role Description The Assistant Manager role at Athleta is a full-time, on-site position based in Alexandria, VA. In this role, the Assistant Manager supports daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, floor management, and ensuring smooth customer service delivery. This position assists in leading and coaching the store team, providing guidance on product knowledge, visual merchandising standards, and sales techniques that reflect Athleta's brand values. The Assistant Manager helps monitor sales performance, supports inventory management, and partners with leadership to execute promotional events and brand initiatives. The role also involves fostering an inclusive, safe, and engaging store environment that encourages active lifestyles and delivers a consistent, high-quality experience for customers and team members. Qualifications Leadership and people management skills, including experience supervising teams, providing feedback, and supporting performance development. Customer service and retail sales skills, with the ability to build rapport, handle concerns professionally, and drive positive in-store experiences. Operational and organizational skills, such as managing schedules, supporting inventory processes, and maintaining store standards and compliance. Communication and collaboration skills, including clear verbal and written communication and the ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues. Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to resolving store issues and supporting business objectives. Interest in or knowledge of activewear, fitness, and wellness, with enthusiasm for Athleta's mission and B Corp commitments. Prior retail or hospitality experience in a supervisory or key-holder role preferred.
