The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist benefits from a collaborative clinical environment, access to advanced imaging technology, and opportunities for professional development while contributing to meaningful patient outcomes and maintaining work-life balance.Responsibilities:Patient Care & SafetyPerform MRI procedures as prescribed, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and high-quality diagnostic imagesConduct patient interviews, assessments, preparation, discharge education, and transport as neededScreen patients and implanted devices, manage clearance processes, and document patient events and safety concernsRecognize patient distress, initiate emergency responses, and support clinical teams during urgent situationsAdminister contrast media following manufacturer standards and the six rights of medication administrationApply infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and age-specific care criteriaMaintain strict control of MRI zones and clinical area accessProtect patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA requirementsClinical Operations & WorkflowCoordinate with radiologists, physicists, clinicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to support efficient patient servicesManage patient flow to minimize delays and support on-time appointment startsExpedite patient care through room preparation, escorting patients, and reducing turnaround timesComplete accurate verbal hand-offs using the SBAR technique and finalize shift reportsParticipate in quality and performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and operational outcomesTechnical Acumen & Imaging QualityOperate MRI equipment independently, performing routine, advanced, inpatient, immediate care, and on-call proceduresApply knowledge of MRI physics, scanner parameters, and cross-sectional anatomy to optimize image qualityEnsure correct imaging site, positioning, annotation, and protocol adherenceTransfer images accurately and timely to PACS and related clinical systemsMaintain productivity and error rates within established benchmarksPerform general x-ray procedures when patient-driven needs ariseEquipment, Systems & DocumentationPerform quality assurance activities and collaborate with engineering and physics teams on equipment concernsReport equipment malfunctions promptly with appropriate documentationAccurately enter exam charges, CPT codes, patient demographics, and billing data into clinical systemsMaintain equipment maintenance and safety logs, including crash carts and temperature monitoringEnsure all patient documentation is complete, accurate, and timelyEducation, Collaboration & Professional PracticeProvide education, training, coaching, and mentoring to students, technologists, nursing staff, faculty, and peersParticipate in departmental meetings, mandatory in-services, and continuing education activitiesAdhere to Joint Commission standards, American College of Radiology accreditation requirements, and institutional policiesSuggest improvements to workflow efficiency and resource utilizationDemonstrate flexibility through varied shifts, on-call coverage, emergency ride-out teams, and travel to off-site facilitiesEducationRequired: Graduate of an accredited Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Program.Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Related field.Work ExperienceRequired: NoneLicenses and CertificationsRequired: CMRT - Cert Medical Radiologic Tech Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
