Senior Design Engineer

Location: Cedar City, UT

We've partnered with an established manufacturer of electrical power equipment located in Cedar City, Utah who is seeking a Senior Design Engineer . This position will be responsible for leading the design, development, and documentation of low- and medium-voltage switchgear and power distribution systems, while providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.

This position will:

• Lead the design and development of complex electrical switchgear systems including general requirements, elevation and plan views, one-line diagrams, schematics, and control circuits.

• Lead the selection and specification of electrical components and provide guidance on component application, coordination, and compliance with project requirements.

• Create and revise engineering drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical).

• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, UL, IEEE).

• Review and interpret customer specifications and provide technical input during submittal, production, and post-shipment phases.

• Participate in customer technical review meetings and provide engineering expertise during project execution.

• Support resolution of technical issues during manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and post-shipment activities.

The well-qualified Design Engineer will have:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or related engineering discipline.

• 7+ years of experience in switchgear or power distribution equipment design.

• Demonstrated experience leading complex projects from concept through manufacturing and testing.

• Experience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables.

• Experience mentoring or training engineers.

• Advanced understanding of low- and medium-voltage systems (up to 38kV).

• Advanced understanding of electrical protection and control systems.

• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Microsoft software

• Knowledge of relevant electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, UL, NEMA, etc.).

• Hands-on experience in manufacturing, testing, commissioning, or field service of switchgear (preferred).
