Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (645a-715p) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Emergency Department License: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Two years of acute care RN experience - Patient assessment skills - Plan of care development skills - Plan of care implementation skills - Plan of care evaluation skills - Patient and family education skills Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective, patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are essential components of the role. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education is crucial. The RN supervises both licensed and non-licensed staff members. Using the caring processes of a recognized model of care, the RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. Educational and professional experiences are applied in the delivery of quality care. The RN also mentors and precepts other staff members. Key Responsibilities: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure, demonstrating the ability to make independent decisions. Initiates, prioritizes, implements, and revises the plan of care as indicated. Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services while utilizing resources effectively. Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel and functions as a mentor/preceptor. Encourages teamwork and communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards. Engages in a practice governance model.
