HVAC Mechanic I - Anson Correctional Institution

Position Overview Agency: NC Department of Adult Correction – Adult Correction Division, Operations. Title: HVAC Mechanic I (S). Position Number: 60058722. Grade: NC08. Location: Anson Correctional Institution, a multi‑custody female correctional facility. This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) that may require overtime to meet business needs. Posting will close at 11:59p.m. the night before the end date. Responsibilities Provide journey‑level work in heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, hot water supply, plumbing, and food service equipment. Perform special repairs and assignments as received by work orders from authorized personnel. Identify problems, select appropriate materials, tools, and repair methods. Carry out repair procedures independently on most jobs. Perform preventative maintenance functions according to the preventative maintenance plans. Train and/or supervise offender workers as needed. Support the overall operation of the HVAC system in the facility. Qualifications High school diploma or GED certificate AND at least three years of progressive experience in installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution, and control systems OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required: Current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a TypeI,II,III or Universal technician under Title40, Code of Federal Regulations part82, subpartF. Preferred: Documented knowledge of practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems.
