Registered Nurse First Assistant

In this role, you will function as an integral member of the perioperative team, working directly with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff to deliver safe, efficient, and evidence-based care throughout the surgical experience. You will provide advanced intraoperative nursing care as first assist, including patient assessment, positioning, maintenance of aseptic technique, tissue handling, hemostasis, wound closure in accordance with state scope of practice, and active participation in surgical procedures across a range of specialties. As a Registered Nurse First Assistant, you will conduct thorough preoperative assessments, contribute to individualized care plans, and support patients and families with clear communication and education. Intraoperatively, you will anticipate surgeon needs, manage instruments and surgical devices, assist with exposure and retraction, and continuously monitor the patient’s status while collaborating closely with the perioperative team to prevent complications and uphold the highest standards of patient safety and infection control. Postoperatively, you will participate in handoffs, documentation, and evaluation of patient outcomes to support continuous quality improvement.
