The Opportunity This is an opportunity for an accomplished healthcare operations executive to shape the next stage of a high-impact organization. The Vice President of Operations will have the mandate to bring a new level of structure, discipline, accountability, and enterprise thinking to CHEMED’s operations. This leader will build scalable systems, strengthen performance across diverse service lines, develop operational leaders, and translate strategy into measurable improvements in patient access, provider productivity, patient experience, financial sustainability, and organizational growth. The Vice President of Operations will serve as CHEMED’s senior enterprise operations leader, accountable for designing, implementing, and leading the operating model that enables consistent, high-quality performance across all sites, practices, and service lines. What you will be charged with: Enterprise Operational Leadership Develop and implement a comprehensive enterprise operations strategy aligned with CHEMED’s mission, clinical priorities, financial objectives, and growth plans. Lead complex, cross‑functional improvement initiatives involving clinical, operational, financial, technology, and patient‑service processes. Patient Access, Provider Scheduling and Capacity Management Build an organization‑wide patient access strategy that improves patients’ ability to obtain timely and appropriate care across all service lines and locations. Develop a data‑driven capacity‑management framework that aligns patient demand with provider supply, staffing availability, room capacity, and service‑line needs. Patient Experience and Service Excellence Champion a culture in which operational excellence and exceptional patient service are understood as essential components of quality healthcare. Establish organization‑wide standards for the patient journey across scheduling, arrival, check‑in, waiting, rooming, clinical care, checkout, follow‑up, and ongoing communication. Operational Performance and Continuous Improvement Build a culture of continuous improvement in which leaders use data to understand performance, identify root causes, test solutions, and sustain gains. Establish clear operational key performance indicators across access, provider productivity, patient reliability, staffing, labor utilization, patient flow, cycle time, financial performance, and patient experience. Financial Performance and Resource Optimization Create accountability for labor productivity, staffing models, overtime, operational expenses, resource utilization, and budget performance. Identify opportunities to improve revenue performance through increased access, better schedule utilization, reduced patient leakage, improved provider productivity, stronger operational workflows, and successful service‑line growth. Leadership Development and Organizational Capability Establish clear performance expectations and development plans for practice managers, site managers, patient access leaders, and other operational leaders. Technology and Data‑Driven Operations Partner with technology, analytics, clinical, and administrative leaders to build the operational technology infrastructure needed to support a complex and growing ambulatory organization. Establish accountability for system adoption, workflow compliance, training, data accuracy, and measurable operational benefits. You have the following: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, operations management, public health, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible healthcare operations experience, including significant leadership responsibility within a complex ambulatory, physician‑practice, medical‑group, health‑center, or multi‑site healthcare environment. Demonstrated success building operational structure, management systems, performance standards, and accountability across a growing or changing organization. Experience overseeing multi‑site and multi‑specialty healthcare operations with substantial patient volume and operational complexity. Strong understanding of ambulatory operations, including patient access, provider scheduling, template management, clinical capacity, front‑desk operations, staffing, patient flow, and practice performance. Proven ability to partner effectively with physicians, Medical Directors, clinical leaders, executives, and administrative departments. Demonstrated experience using data, key performance indicators, and financial information to drive operational decisions and measurable improvement. Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with budgets, staffing models, labor productivity, resource allocation, and service‑line performance. Demonstrated ability to develop managers, build high‑performing teams, establish accountability, and lead through influence as well as direct authority.
