Equipment Operator

Our Equipment Operators play a key role in keeping our facilities running safely and efficiently, operating forklifts and rolloff equipment to move waste and materials from one area of the hauling facility to another. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically minded, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This role is a great fit for both experienced equipment operators and motivated candidates looking to build a career in the waste industry.

Responsibilities

• Operates forklifts and rolloff equipment to move waste and materials within the hauling facility in a safe and efficient manner.
• Conducts pre-operation inspections of equipment to ensure it is in good working condition, and reports any malfunctions or safety hazards.
• Follows all safety protocols and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe work environment for self and others.
• Coordinates with site supervisors and team members to execute daily tasks and maintain workflow continuity.
• Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
• Maintains accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and any incidents or repairs.
• Adapts to changing facility needs and work conditions while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must pass a background check and drug screening.
• Ability to understand and follow safety guidelines and operational procedures required.
• Prior experience operating forklifts, rolloff equipment, or similar heavy equipment in a waste, industrial, or related environment preferred, but not required - full training is provided.
• Forklift certification preferred, but not required.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and supervisors preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Regularly operates heavy equipment for extended periods, requiring prolonged sitting and repetitive use of hand and foot controls.
• Frequently climbs into and out of equipment cabs and performs pre- and post-operation inspections that may require bending, kneeling, or reaching.
• Occasionally lifts and carries equipment parts, tools, or materials up to 50 pounds.
• Work is performed primarily outdoors at the hauling facility and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and moving equipment.
• Must be able to maintain alertness and follow safety protocols throughout the duration of a shift.
