Member Service Representative

Overview The West Suburban YMCA is seeking enthusiastic Member Services Representatives to join our team at our Church St location. Responsibilities Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in person and over the phone, contributing to member retention. Conducts tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships. Builds authentic, effective relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues. Ensures that the lobby and desk areas are clean and adequately supplied with informational materials, schedules, forms, and promotional items. Performs routine cleaning of the area and records appropriate information. Applies all YMCA policies related to member services. May monitor lockers/locker rooms as required. Knows and reviews emergency procedures and responds to emergencies immediately in accordance with YMCA policies; completes related reports as required. Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings. Presents a professional demeanor and uniform as required. Willingness to accept responsibilities and duties other than those assigned. Qualifications Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds. Previous customer service, sales or related experience. Basic knowledge of computers. Ability to prioritize in an environment with fluctuating volume; detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Physical Demands Ability to continuously stand or walk for the length of shift. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 lbs.
