The Shipping & Receiving Lead supports all production, shipping, receiving, and kitting operations by ensuring efficient movement of materials throughout the facility. This role oversees multiple logistics‑related departments, maintains inventory accuracy, supports Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives, and ensures a safe, organized work environment.  

Key Responsibilities  

Material Handling & Production Support

  • Handle large volumes of parts as they move through the manufacturing facility
  • Load and unload trucks; stage materials in correct locations throughout the plant
  • Ensure smooth material flow from operation to operation
  • Operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes
  • Maintain shipping consumables inventory and manage disposal
  • Support inventory cycle counts and accuracy initiatives
  • Complete required paperwork, tags, and documentation accurately  

Department Oversight & Cross‑Training

  • Oversee Shipping Department; provide backup support as needed
  • Oversee Receiving Department; provide backup support as needed
  • Oversee Material Handling Department; ensure timely movement of materials
  • Oversee Kitting Department; ensure company kitting goals are met
  • Serve as backup in all roles of Shipping & Receiving
  • Maintain company vehicles and associated records

Lean, 5S & Continuous Improvement

  • Actively support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Maintain 5S standards and ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment at all times
  • Participate in department task lists, white board communication, and daily coordination
  • Support month‑end closing activities related to inventory and material movement  

Other Duties

  • Work flexible hours and overtime as required
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned  

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of material handling experience
  • Experience operating forklifts, lift vehicles, and overhead crane systems
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to read, complete, and maintain required paperwork

Education

  • High School Diploma required  

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout warehouse and production areas  

Competencies

  • Material Flow — Understanding of how materials move through a production environment
  • Inventory Accuracy — Ability to support cycle counts and maintain correct records
  • Lean Manufacturing — Commitment to continuous improvement
  • 5S Practices — Maintaining organization, cleanliness, and safety
  • Cross‑Functional Communication — Ability to coordinate with Shipping, Receiving, Production, and Kitting
