FTE: 0.9 (Full-Time) Shift: Night, 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Schedule: TBD three shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays. Candidates must have open availability; specific schedules or patterns cannot be guaranteed. Position Overview This role is part of the Deaconess Hospital MHA II Float Pool. The MHA II will provide 1:1 sitter care across all units as needed. CNA skills may be utilized while functioning in the MHA role. Starting pay $21.18 per hour, depending on licensed CNA experience. Position Summary The Mental Health Associate II is responsible for providing a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment while providing direct observation for an assigned patient experiencing confusion, suicidal ideation, or other psychiatric condition requiring close supervision. This position works in conjunction with the Registered Nurse assigned to the patient. Responsibilities Observe assigned patient, maintaining a direct line of vision to the patient at all times and communicate unusual occurrences immediately to the nurse responsible for the patient. Assist with maintaining a safe and hazard‑free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting patient room searches, reporting unsafe conditions, implementing safety interventions and applying appropriate emotional support. Orient the patient and patient’s family to the facility and the policies and procedures. Document patient care activities. Provide appropriate interventions immediately if the patient is attempting to participate in an unsafe activity (e.g., climbing out of bed, attempting to ambulate without assistance, pulling at lines or tubes, displaying aggressive behavior); and seek assistance as necessary. Change bed linens, tidy room and empty trash as needed. Provide direct patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Maintain clean and orderly utility rooms. Requirements High School Diploma. Current BLS Certification. Current Washington State Certified Nurse Assistant license required. Previous patient care experience, preferably in a behavioral health setting. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $21.18 – $31.68 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
