IT PROJECT ENGINEER 

Troy, NY 

Fusco Personnel is recruiting for a resourceful, hands-on IT professional to join our client as an IT Project Engineer, taking independent ownership of technology projects for our customers from start to finish. In this role, you'll turn a scoped project plan into a well-run engagement — mapping out the execution approach, staying ahead of risk, completing the hands-on technical work, and delivering a clean, well-documented experience for every customer.

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of assigned projects once scope and requirements have been finalized.
• Lead kickoff meetings with customers to confirm scope, set expectations, and align on timeline and communication cadence.
• Define and document a clear execution strategy, including sequencing of work, resource needs, and dependencies.
• Identify risks before and during execution and build a response plan for each.
• Complete all technical work within the defined scope, including planning, configuration, and implementation.
• Lead closeout meetings to confirm deliverables, document any open items, and ensure a clean handoff to the ongoing support team.
• Maintain thorough, accurate project documentation throughout the entire project lifecycle.
• Plan, implement, and support customer networks, servers, storage, virtual environments, and cloud platforms.
• Configure and maintain network switches, routers, wireless access points/controllers, and firewalls.
• Administer server platforms, hypervisors, and virtualization environments.
• Support cloud productivity and collaboration platforms, including migrations and virtual machine deployments.
• Deploy security tooling such as multi-factor authentication, endpoint detection and response, DNS filtering, encryption, and password management solutions.
• Implement and validate backup and disaster recovery solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Configure business communication systems, including VoIP platforms and email authentication standards.
• Deploy end-user tools such as workstation builds, print management, and security awareness training platforms.
• Coordinate daily priorities with customers and leadership based on project plans and schedules.
• Track and document consulting activity for billing and reference purposes.
• Represent the company professionally in every customer interaction.
• Safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of company and customer information.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, and administering server platforms, hypervisors, and IP networking environments.
• Experience configuring and maintaining network switches, routers, wireless access points/controllers, and firewalls.
• Hands-on experience with cloud productivity and collaboration platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to build and independently manage a project plan, communicate status to stakeholders, and drive a project through to completion.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in customer-facing settings.
• A proactive, do-whatever-it-takes attitude.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant technical certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP, CCNA, MCSE) are a plus, though not required.
• A demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and collaboration with peers.

Status: Full-time.

Salary: $75K – 105K, plus benefits.
