Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg (Acute Care) position at a 483-bed hospital in Albany, GA, requiring at least 2 years of experience and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit in a 483-bed hospital setting in Albany, GA
• 14-bed unit serving a diverse medical patient population including diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, post-surgical, amputation, wound care, DVT, ETOH, and psych patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
• CNAs available on the unit, generally at a 1:12 ratio
• Telemetry monitoring available on a separate unit; nurses are not required to read strips
• Common medications include Lasix, Bumex, and Heparin
• Equipment includes CPAP; BiPAP used on nights only
• Charting via MEDITECH EMR
• 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to all acute care, cardiology (for medical patients), and EC for acute care patient holds
• Up to 12 hours of cancellation time every 2 weeks

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or equivalent acute care experience required
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Experience at a larger, high-acuity, high-volume facility required; Critical Access Hospital (CAH) experience does not qualify
• A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration

Additional Information

• Primary Care Nursing model is used on this unit
• LPNs and LPN-Cs are also utilized on the floor
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• Orientation is 16 hours (3 days)
• Scrub colors required: Caribbean Blue top and bottom, White top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all white
• Artificial, shellac, or gel nails are not permitted due to CLABSI prevention protocols; polished natural nails are allowed
• No bags are permitted at the nurses' station; a personal lock for a locker may be brought
• Strict attendance policy is enforced; repeated call-outs or tardiness may result in termination of assignment
• RTO requests are only honored if submitted and confirmed prior to the start of the assignment
