After School Group Leader

Do you enjoy working with children? Watching them grow and learn? The YMCA of Central Kentucky is looking for fun, energetic employees to join our school age child care programs in Fayette County.

Group leaders provide direct supervision of children and are responsible for the successful implementation of quality before and/or after school care. Group Leaders work in collaboration with other staff to provide programs that foster children's social, physical, spiritual, and mental growth; and ensure the health, welfare and safety of program participants. The Leader promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall experience. Reliable transportation is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

1. Assist the School Age Child Care Site Director in the implementation of a culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate curriculum.
2. Assume responsibility for the safety of the children at all times and maintain daily records, adhering to all requirements.
3. Uphold the association's child protection policies, child abuse and neglect guidelines and proper reporting procedures.
4. Attend all staff meetings and in-service training as required by the YMCA and the Division of Regulated Child Care (DRCC).
5. Prepare daily snack for the children and support and implement healthy eating and physical activity initiatives (HEPA).
6. Direct and assist daily cleaning and maintenance of the space and/or facility

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum two years' experience working with or caring for children; some college preferred.
2. Strong organizational and leadership skills.
3. Demonstrated strong customer service skills; ability to work well with children in cooperation with staff and parents.
4. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: CPR; First Aid; AED; Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma and Orientation I & II.
5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Must be 18 years of age or older.
