Google – Operations Technician – Fort Wayne, IN The Operations Technician will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain server hardware and its components, including servers, racks, and networking equipment such as routers, switches, hubs, bridges, and networking protocols. Responsibilities Install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain server hardware and its components, including servers, racks, and networking equipment such as routers, switches, hubs, bridges, and networking protocols. Perform component‑level repairs and preventive maintenance on IT equipment. Operate and maintain new data center infrastructure across projects. Report issues and follow data center procedures to diagnose and resolve equipment problems. Disassemble end‑of‑life equipment and manage part replacement. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and participate in or lead small project teams to support larger installations and contingency planning. Required Qualifications Experience with component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. Diagnosis and troubleshooting of operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. Ability to lift/move 50 lb (23 kg) and perform physically demanding tasks over extended periods, including bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling and lifting. Flexibility to work non‑standard hours, including weekends, nights, holidays and shift‑based schedules. English proficiency required for all roles unless stated otherwise. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. Completion of the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program. Two years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, server hardware or networking protocols. Experience in a similar role such as Systems Administration, Network Deployment Engineer, Help Desk Technician, or within a data center / network operations center. Ability to collaborate with teams and adapt to a dynamic work environment. Benefits & Compensation Salary range: US$78,000 – 111,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits.
