Government Mathematician or Data Scientist, AI Research

Government quantitative professionals can apply their mathematical and data science expertise to evaluate and improve AI outputs used in professional contexts. This remote, project-based work involves assessing field-specific content and providing structured feedback that helps AI models better understand government workplace tasks and terminology. Key Responsibilities

• Create AI prompts grounded in government quantitative work.
• Evaluate AI-generated responses and content relevant to your professional field.
• Apply mathematical research, modeling, numerical analysis, computational techniques, and related methods to assess practical problem-solving outputs across science, engineering, business, and security contexts.
• Provide clear, structured feedback to strengthen model quality.
• Build new skills while contributing to the responsible use of AI in your field.

• At least 4 years of professional experience in the government sector as a mathematician, data scientist, or in a comparable quantitative role.
• Experience advancing mathematical knowledge through research, principles, models, or theoretical analysis.
• Ability to share expertise through mentoring, publications, presentations, journals, conferences, or other professional learning.
• Ability to work asynchronously in collaboration with leading AI labs.

• Remote, asynchronous work that can be completed independently from wherever you are located.
• Flexible schedule with no minimum commitment. Most contributors average 5 to 20 hours per week.
• Projects are available year-round, with opportunities opening periodically across areas of expertise.
• Assignment to a project depends on project availability. Candidates who are not matched immediately may have access to future projects.

Up to $120/hr (depending on the project).

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible for projects. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
• If your school requires a CPT course, this work may not satisfy your school's requirements.
• STEM OPT is not supported.
