Job Title: Insurance Commercial Lines Producer Summary The Producer is responsible for prospecting, soliciting, and selling new commercial accounts. Continuing to counsel and market to existing clients professionally is another essential function of the position. Specific sales goals and service responsibilities are determined during the yearly planning process. The Producer meets service and sales standards of volume with timeliness and quality. Essential Functions Identify and develop insurance prospects and appropriate markets. Respond to referrals quickly and effectively. Prequalify insurance prospects for insurability and quality of risk. Create and maintain client or prospect lists. Design insurance plans and recommend coverages to clients. Survey loss exposures, needs, and possible uninsurable or difficult to insure exposures for clients. Make sales presentations to prospective and existing clients on new and renewal business. Assist AE with applications and related documentation. Develop, follow, and complete sales objectives. Educate clients concerning agency payment expectations and cancellation procedures. Acknowledge non-standard coverage limitation and binding restrictions to document file and lower E&O exposures. Ask for referral from insured to help generate new business. Retention and Continuous Marketing Explain coverages and exclusions and document explanations on automated file for future reference. Develop a book of business that is profitable for both agency and carriers. Work with clients to ensure limit and coverage adequacy. Provide needed information and clarification about clients to service staff, and document system by transaction date. Review existing policy coverages at least annually to upgrade accounts and remarket as necessary. Assist service staff to collect client information in preparation of schedules of insurance, summaries, and renewal proposals. Review appropriate policy change requests and other account activity. Recommend and help insureds carry out loss control programs, independently and with company loss control staff. Contact insureds to assist in collections of past due premiums or audit amounts. Retain assigned percentages of accounts at each renewal. Continue to develop relationships with insured. Accept and handle any duties/prospects as assigned by agency management. Personal and Organizational Development Participate in sales meetings. Complete required compliance exams. Complete required continuing education classes for resident insurance license. Develop network relationships by joining The Chamber of Commerce, attending bank meetings, and active involvement in community organizations / non‑profit organizations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities College education or equivalent insurance experience. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with others, to explain complex issues, to receive and interpret complex information, and to respond appropriately. Ability to understand written and oral communication and to interpret abstract information. Must maintain an insurance license. Full knowledge of insurance products and uses. Adequate knowledge of rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain and write assigned client prospect lists. Full knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets. Knowledge of rating and underwriting procedures. Ability to generate new business sales, retain existing business, and close sales in insurance. Ability to carry out complex tasks with concrete and abstract variables.
