Description Vision Academy, a school in the United Schools of Indianapolis (USI) network, is seeking an innovative, student-centered STEM Specials Teacher to inspire scholars through engaging, hands-on learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. USI offers a competitive salary and benefits package, with teachers eligible to earn up to $40,000 annually in performance-based bonuses . The STEM Specials Teacher will design and deliver high-quality instruction that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. This position serves students across grades K-8 and provides opportunities for scholars to engage in project-based learning, design thinking, technology integration, and real-world applications of STEM concepts. The ideal candidate is passionate about preparing students for future academic and career success, embraces innovation, and can differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of elementary and middle school students. Essential Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum
- Design and deliver engaging STEM instruction for students in grades K-8.
- Develop and facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based, and project-based learning experiences.
- Integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts into meaningful learning opportunities.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, and multimedia resources to enhance student engagement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and developmental needs of students across multiple grade levels.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional decisions.
- Support scholars in developing problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
- Foster student creativity, innovation, and perseverance through authentic STEM challenges.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leaders to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, and school events.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Contribute to a school culture focused on high expectations, equity, and student achievement.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid Indiana teaching license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Commitment to serving diverse student populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Valid elementary or secondary teaching license.
- Experience implementing Project-Based Learning (PBL).
- Ability to differentiate instruction across grades K-8.
- Experience integrating STEM content through multiple instructional media, including technology platforms, digital tools, hands-on projects, engineering challenges, and collaborative learning experiences.
- Experience teaching science, technology, engineering, robotics, coding, makerspace, or related STEM content.
- Knowledge of inquiry-based and experiential learning practices.
- Experience working in urban schools and/or charter school environments.
- Passion for STEM education and innovation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to engage and motivate students through hands-on learning.
- Collaborative team player who contributes positively to school culture.
- Commitment to educational equity and excellence for all scholars.
- Teachers can earn up to $40,000 annually in performance-based bonuses .
- Over $500,000 in bonus pools are awarded each year.
