Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist

Location: Hyannis, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks (Potential for Extension)
Schedule: 32–40 Hours per Week
Shift: Rotating Shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, and/or 3:00 PM–11:00 PM)
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every Other Weekend and Holiday
Float Requirement: Required

Compensation

Weekly Pay Range: $2,100 – $2,600 (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) to provide comprehensive respiratory care services across a variety of patient populations and clinical settings. The ideal candidate will have experience managing acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions, operating advanced respiratory equipment, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

ResponsibilitiesPatient Assessment & Respiratory Care

• Assess and identify acute and chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
• Develop and implement respiratory treatment plans in accordance with therapist-driven protocols and evidence-based practices.
• Monitor patient response to respiratory interventions and adjust treatments as appropriate.

Ventilator & Airway Management

• Initiate, manage, and troubleshoot ventilator support systems.
• Apply lung-protective ventilation strategies and assist with ventilator weaning protocols.
• Manage non-invasive ventilation therapies and artificial airways.
• Perform nasotracheal, endotracheal, and tracheostomy suctioning procedures.
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff in tracheostomy care management.

Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures

• Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and interpretation.
• Collect sputum specimens and perform bedside spirometry and capnography testing.
• Administer oxygen therapy, high-flow oxygen, Heliox therapy, aerosolized medications, and metered-dose inhalers.
• Provide airway clearance therapies including CPT, PEP, and related modalities.

Procedural & Emergency Support

• Assist physicians during:
  • Intubations
  • Bronchoscopies
  • Conscious sedation procedures
  • Tracheostomy tube changes
• Respond to Code Blue and Rapid Response Team activations.
• Provide respiratory support during intra-hospital and inter-facility patient transport.

Patient Population Coverage

• Deliver respiratory care services to:
  • Neonatal patients
  • Pediatric patients
  • Adult patients

Documentation & Quality Assurance

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Complete charge capture and billing reconciliation activities.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and patient care planning discussions.
• Ensure compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

Education & Department Support

• Assist with orientation and training of new staff and respiratory therapy students.
• Maintain respiratory therapy equipment, supplies, and inventory.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
• Foster positive relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.

Required QualificationsEducation & Licensure

• Current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapy License.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of respiratory disease processes and treatment modalities.
• Experience with ventilator management and airway support techniques.
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gas results and assess respiratory status.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced acute care environments.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous acute care hospital respiratory therapy experience.
• Experience working with neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations.
• Familiarity with therapist-driven protocols and advanced respiratory care technologies.
