Overview The Project and Contract Manager position is the single point of accountability for managing a portfolio of approximately $500 million consisting of large LG&E and KU Electric Transmission capital projects (Transmission Lines and T & D Substations). Responsible for the successful delivery of assigned project portfolio. Responsible for all project and contract management activities throughout the project life cycle including planning, detailed design, procurement, construction, close out and turnover to operations on assigned project portfolio. Manages contractor commitments to ensure all deliverables are met to scope, schedule and budget. Team player capable of working with management, project controls and contractors. Responsibilities Plan and ensure successful management of the assigned project portfolio using resources of the project management office and project management teams. Guarantee contractor services and deliverables meet quality standards and are obtained in a timely manner to support contract terms. Manage and monitor contractor performance and output, including direct oversight of contracted project managers. Resolve contractor issues and manage change order submittals, analyze claims and disputes, and consult with management to resolve or negotiate. Administer contracts and manage change orders of assigned contracts. Maintain communication with upper management to ensure smooth operation of all assigned projects and advise leadership about portfolio status, budget and resource planning. Develop, execute and maintain the project plan for each assigned project, covering scope, schedule, cost, quality, communication, resources, issues, risks, change control and contractor management. Oversee all project management activities from planning to turnover to operations, applying LG&E and KU PM methodology and enforcing project standards. Coordinate project team collaboration and ongoing management. Develop and manage the project communication and resource plan. Facilitate team deliverables such as design packages, contractor contracts and other applicable project deliverables. Guide projects to key milestone dates and through gate reviews. Manage day‑to‑day operational aspects of projects and scope. Ensure project changes (scope, budget, schedule) are managed through the established governance structure. Proactively identify risks, develop mitigation plans, monitor project status and coordinate corrective actions. Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately. Manage project budget and variances, determine revenue recognition, ensure timely invoicing and monitor receivables; forecast costs and accrue unbilled work to completion. Lead, coach and mentor team members and contractor resources to achieve expectations and deliverables, adapting to change and coaching others in change acceptance. Support development and maintenance of PM support policies, standards and procedures to produce deliverables and work effectively with other teams. Takes ownership and delivery responsibility for special projects and company initiatives, reconciling long‑term goals with short‑term actions and implementing new technologies, methodologies and processes. May be assigned an emergency and storm role, potentially requiring after‑hours work outside of normal schedule. Respond to all other duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards. Qualifications Required Education Bachelor's Degree Required Experience 7+ years experience with project management, contract management and/or construction management responsibilities. Experience in project budgeting, cost control, scheduling and reporting. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline. Project management certification from a recognized organization such as the Project Management Institute (PMI). Familiarity with electric utilities equipment and processes. Prior utility infrastructure project management experience. Strong written, oral, presentation and organizational skills with customer interface experience. Demonstrated initiative and leadership skills. Skills in critical path and scheduling best practices. Skills in schedule and cost risk assessment and management.
