Accounts Payable Specialist (contract to hire)


Location: North Canton, OH

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Work Setting: In office

Employment Type: Full-time

Overtime Eligible: Yes, over 40 hours per week

Job Summary


We are seeking an entry-level Accounts Payable Specialist to support daily accounting operations. This role is responsible for processing vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, ensuring proper approvals, entering invoices into the accounting system, and helping resolve billing or vendor discrepancies.


The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with numbers, and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced office environment. This is a great opportunity for someone with accounts payable, general accounting, or strong administrative experience who is looking to grow within an accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Process and verify vendor invoices for accuracy, approvals, and proper coding
• Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices
• Enter invoices into the accounting system in a timely manner
• Work with internal teams to resolve billing issues and invoice discrepancies
• Maintain accurate vendor and invoice records
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures
• Assist with audits by providing requested documentation
• Answer incoming phone calls as needed
• Communicate with vendors and internal departments professionally
• Support additional accounting tasks as assigned, including future AP or AR responsibilities

Qualifications

• Accounts payable, general accounting, or relevant administrative experience preferred
• Strong math and data-entry skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms is a plus
• Basic understanding of accounts payable processes and best practices preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work well with cross-functional teams

Pay Details: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour
