Accountant / Tax Preparer

C&S has an immediate opening for a full-time, direct hire Tax Accountant in Jefferson City.

Salary/hours for Tax Accountant: $50,000-$80,000/yr. (based on experience) + benefit package; Monday-Friday (full-time + additional hours may be required during tax season)

Responsibilities:

• Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts and nonprofits 
• Review client financial records and ensure accurate tax reporting 
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules 
• Perform bookkeeping and account reconciliations 
• Assist clients with tax planning and compliance matters 
• Research tax issues and stay current on tax law changes 
• Communicate with clients to gather information and answer questions 
• Support payroll tax reporting and sales tax filings as needed 
• Work closely with staff to meet deadlines and client needs 

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field 
• CPA, CPA candidate, EA, or equivalent experience preferred 
• Experience working in a CPA firm or public accounting environment 
• Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel 
• Experience preparing individual and business tax returns 
• Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations 
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial statements 
• Proficiency with tax preparation and accounting software 
• Strong attention to detail and organizational, time management and customer relations skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities 
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
