Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:

The Labor and Delivery Nurse provides specialized nursing care to women throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. They collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and baby in high-acuity obstetric settings.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Assess fetal and maternal health through physical and psychosocial evaluations.
  
  
• 
  Develop and implement multidisciplinary care plans tailored to each patients needs.
  
  
• 
  Manage perinatal emergencies such as crash C-sections, precipitous delivery, and shoulder dystocia.
  
  
• 
  Monitor fetal and maternal vitals, amniotic fluid, and vaginal bleeding, recognizing abnormalities.
  
  
• 
  Assist with epidural placements and monitor responses to medication.
  
  
• 
  Educate patients and families on perinatal care, postpartum recovery, and breastfeeding strategies.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Possess an active RN license in the state of practice.
  
  
• 
  Hold current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.
  
  
• 
  Have at least two years of recent labor and delivery experience.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate proficiency in fetal monitoring and epidural procedures.
  
  
• 
  Be experienced with EPIC electronic medical record system.
  
  
• 
  Completion of AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring course.
