The Baggage Handler / Unjammer (UNJ) responds to on-call requests from the control room dispatcher to clear bag jams, reset equipment, and restore full functionality to the Baggage Handling System (BHS). Candidates will also collect and manually transport "non-conveyable" baggage across designated processing areas within the facility.  This position pays $17.86 per hour and requires true 24/7 availability, including mandatory nights, weekends, holidays, and frequent overtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to system stoppages, bag jams, faults, and alarms to reset equipment and restore operations.
• Manually clear jammed luggage and safely transport non-conveyable items across designated BHS zones.
• Maintain strict punctuality, continuous attendance, and proper uniform attire at all times.
• Adhere strictly to company safety standards, OSHA guidelines, and FAA security regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Work & Residency History: Must provide a 10-year employment history and a 5-year residential history during the application process.
• Clearances & Background: Must pass a Level 2 background check and obtain U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) clearance to secure required airport credentials.
• Testing: Complete a 5-hour pre-employment assessment (can be taken remotely at home or on-site at the local office).
• Physical Capability: Must be physically able to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull luggage/equipment up to 70 lbs.
• Technical Aptitude: Minimum 1 year of experience in a technical or industrial environment with a strong willingness to learn baggage systems.

Onboarding & Badging Process

• 3-Week Hiring Timeline: Due to federal screening, CBP clearances, and airport badging requirements, the complete onboarding process takes approximately 3 weeks prior to your official start date.
• Badge Policy: The company pays the initial $100 badge fee . Employees are responsible for keeping track of their credentials --lost badges incur a $500 replacement fee .

Required Identification Documents Candidates  must present valid documentation from  one of the following options during screening:

• Option 1: Valid U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card + Social Security Card.
• Option 2: State-issued Driver's License/ID + Original Birth Certificate + Social Security Card.
• Option 3 (Permanent Resident / Naturalized): State-issued Driver's License/ID + Social Security Card + Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) OR Naturalization Certificate  AND Original Birth Certificate or Foreign Passport.

Pay Rate & Work Schedule

• Pay Rate: $17.86 per hour
• Schedule & Availability: Full-Time | 24/7 Availability Required (Nights, Weekends, Holidays, and Heavy Overtime)
