Chatham County Public Defender's Office Legal Secretary IIJoin the Chatham County Public Defender's Office as a Legal Secretary II and put your legal administrative expertise to work supporting trial teams and serving clients. This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion in a fast-paced environment.Examples of Duties:Perform administrative and legal secretarial support functions for multiple trial teams.Utilize excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills as you help with walk-in applications for the office, generate and track medical records requests for all teams within the office, and assist with social worker assignments.Provide back-up assistance for the indigency verification admin by processing daily applications over the phone with clients currently incarcerated.Perform work that requires comprehensive knowledge of all functions and activities of the office environment.Perform duties that require considerable initiative, independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality, often in stressful situations.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED, andAt least two (2) years of experience performing various legal administrative assistance, legal secretarial, or related duties; orAny equivalent combination of training and experience.You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs.Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute.
