Role Description
We are looking for a seasoned People Business Partner to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted HR advisor to leaders and employees across Ting, with a strong emphasis on employee relations.
- Guide managers through complex people situations.
- Ensure consistent and fair application of employment policies.
- Help the business navigate change with confidence.
- Leverage AI tools like Claude to streamline reporting, draft documentation, manage projects, and surface insights from data.
- Focus on execution while thriving in ambiguity.
Job Duties
- Employee Relations (Primary Focus)
- Serve as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all employee relations matters.
- Lead and document workplace investigations, ensuring procedural fairness and timely resolution.
- Manage end-to-end terminations, including drafting termination documentation and coordinating with legal counsel.
- Advise managers on performance improvement plans and disciplinary processes.
- Navigate complex employee situations with discretion and sound judgment.
- Proactively identify ER trends and surface recommendations to leadership.
- Leaves of Absence Management
- Administer and coordinate all leaves of absence.
- Partner with employees, managers, and benefits carriers for seamless leave transitions.
- Maintain accurate leave tracking and ensure compliance with legislation.
- Change Management & Organizational Transition
- Support organizational design and planning initiatives.
- Partner with leaders to develop change management plans.
- Provide HR guidance and communication support for organizational announcements.
- People Programs & HR Operations
- Support the rollout and administration of company-wide people programs.
- Practice AI-augmented work to streamline reporting and reduce administrative burden.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and serve as a subject matter expert.
- Leverage HR data and analytics to identify workforce trends.
- Collaborate with the Talent team on recruitment and onboarding support.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of progressive HR Business Partner experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field (preferred).
- CPHR and/or SHRM certification is an asset.
- Demonstrated comfort using AI tools to accelerate HR work.
Requirements
- Expert-level knowledge of HR best practices.
- Proven experience managing complex ER cases.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and US employment law.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- High degree of discretion and professionalism.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Strong proficiency with Google Sheets/Excel.
- Highly organized with outstanding follow-through.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity.
- Collaborative partner across HR functions.
- Strong judgment balancing employee advocacy with business needs.
Benefits
- Base salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 USD for US residents OR $100,000 - $120,000 CAD for Canadian residents.
