Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:


Help provide a better physical learning environment that is sanitary and attractive for all students and staff in the district.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:


High School Diploma or GED


Special Knowledge/Skills:


Possess valid Texas driver's license with no major restrictions


Qualify as a fully experienced, all equipment painter


Aptitude for performing assigned tasks


Ability to work and get along with people


Health sufficient to perform essential functions of position


Ability to lift and carry 61 or more pounds without assistance


Ability to read written instructions and understand verbal instructions


Experience:


Minimum three years of painter experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:


Perform the painting needs of the District

• Record all materials and man hours on each project and keep the painter lead informed on job costs
• Give on-the-job instruction and training to painter helpers
• Practice high standards of safety in performance of all duties
• Lift and carry 61 or more pounds without assistance for 0 - 30% of time on the job
• Willing to perform any other duties assigned by painter lead

Tools/Equipment Used: Painting and drywall tools and equipment including brush, roller, spray equipment sand and water blaster; small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; light truck or van


Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions


Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving


Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis


Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
