Our organization is on the lookout for a skilled pediatric intensivist to take on the role of Director for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) located in Livingston, NJ. This position is part of a collaboration between our organization and a prominent university, forming the largest integrated healthcare system in New Jersey. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the clinical and academic initiatives of the CBMC PICU, collaborating with other leaders in critical care to ensure cohesive service delivery across the system. They will work closely with the System Medical Director of Pediatric Critical Care to achieve these objectives, as well as other goals related to the Pediatric Service Line. The ideal candidate will join a team of 23 intensivists managing 54 PICU beds, fostering a culture of teamwork, adaptability, and camaraderie. We are looking for someone with a proven track record in handling complex scenarios, engaging with hospital administration, and mentoring new faculty members.

Key Highlights:

• CBMC hosts the Children's Kidney Center, which serves the highest number of pediatric renal transplant patients in the state. The PICU plays a crucial role in supporting this program.
• Each year, CBMC diagnoses around 70 new diabetic cases, many of which require management in the PICU due to DKA presentations.
• Our facility is home to New Jersey's Adult and Pediatric Burn ICU, staffed by specialists in burn care.
• CBMC is in the process of establishing a level 4 pediatric epilepsy center and has begun performing SEG surgeries.
• The PICU at CBMC cares for a significant number of complex post-operative patients from various surgical specialties, including neurosurgery, ENT, urology, and pediatric surgery.
• Our PICU has an active research program that engages in large multi-center collaborations and includes dedicated time for research coordinators.
• CBMC features a state-of-the-art 56-bed NICU, a 31-bed pediatric floor, and an 8-bed Pediatric Emergency Department, serving approximately 6,000 newborns annually.
• Subspecialties available include allergy, cardiology, child development, pediatric emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, genetics, hematology/oncology, immunology, infectious diseases, neonatology, nephrology, neurology, pulmonology, and rheumatology. Surgical specialties encompass craniofacial surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, renal transplant, and urology.

Most intensivists maintain a clinical presence across multiple pediatric centers within our system, fostering the sharing of best practices and the development of comprehensive skill sets. The close affiliation with the university provides access to extensive research resources, including a Clinical Research Center and a Clinical Trials Office. Our intensivists have diverse non-clinical interests, ranging from global health and health equity to clinical research, education, quality improvement, and administration.

Requirements:

• Board certification in pediatric critical care.
• Possession of a New Jersey medical license or eligibility for licensure.
• A strong commitment to academic excellence, including the education and mentorship of all healthcare team members.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong internal locus of control.

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this position is between $283,000 and $400,000 annually. The final compensation offered will be influenced by various factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
