Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for an Oncology Chemo Certified unit, requiring active chemo (ONS/ONCC) certification and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Inpatient oncology unit with 12 patient beds specializing in Oncology, Thoracic, and Bariatric surgery
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Rotating holidays and weekends required
• Block scheduling not available
• No call requirements
• Floating to med/surg/tele units as needed
• Special procedures/equipment include chemo administration and chest tube management
• Meditech charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of current, relevant experience
• Required certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC)
• NIHSS certification required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/infusions, port access/management, central line and PICC line care
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
• Experience administering and monitoring chemotherapy including oral and continuous infusion methods
• Knowledge of psychosocial care including advance directives and patient/family education
• Experience managing symptoms such as nausea, neuropathy, and altered mental status
• Familiarity with medications including antibiotics, antiemetics, and corticosteroids
• Experience caring for patients with brain, breast, lung, pancreatic cancer, and multiple myeloma
• Skills in chest tube care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and wound care
• Experience with isolation precautions, neutropenic precautions, and phlebotomy
• Experience in post-surgical care and pain management including PCA pump management
