JOB SUMMARY

The Forklift Operator responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various pieces of construction equipment. The Forklift Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of equipment including but not limited to Forklifts, Telehandlers, Excavators and Front-End Loaders to handle precast concrete products, raw materials, and production equipment throughout the plant and storage yard. This position plays a key role in supporting production, loading, unloading, and general yard logistics. This position reports to the Yard Supervisor.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate forklifts to transport precast concrete products, raw materials, steel, and formwork across the plant and yard

• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and storage racks with heavy precast items and supplies

• Move and position large forms and molds for production use and maintenance

• Assist with staging finished concrete products for shipping and delivery

• Ensure loads are properly balanced, secured, and moved safely to prevent damage or injury

• Conduct pre-operational inspections and perform basic equipment maintenance (fluid checks, refueling, etc.)

• Maintain accurate movement logs and communicate with supervisors regarding load priorities

• Work closely with production, quality control, and logistics teams to meet project timelines

• Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies, including proper use of PPE and equipment handling procedures

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including equipment storage zones

• Maintain roadways and storage areas to ensure areas are smooth and finished

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Valid DL with clear driving record

• 1 year+ in a relevant environment

• Valid operator certification preferred

• Knowledge of safe lifting techniques, rigging basics and load limits

• Ability to operate various types of equipment depending on load and terrain

• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or with a team

• Time management skills

• Attention to detail skills

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires constant (70-100%) sitting, handling, feeling, use hands to finger, hearing (listening) and observing (vision), hand/eye coordination and walking. Requires frequent (40-69%) climbing, balancing, stooping, walking & crouching and occasional (0-39%) standing, bending, twisting, keeling, crawling, reaching, pulling, pushing & reaching. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust and focus. This position is subject to onsite hazards including but not limited to moving industrial equipment, hazardous energies (LOTO), climbing ladders, working at heights, working on uneven or unimproved surfaces and areas of high noise levels, may operate hand and power tools (electric, gas & pneumatic) of all types. Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc. May be required to work in confined spaces. Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.). Candidate must be able to be medically qualified by a NON-DOT or other job specific physical.
