About this roleThe Nephrology Associate Medical Director role is a part of US Medical Affairs, a strategic partner within Biogen, that helps inform medical practice across our therapeutic areas and pipeline to improve meaningful patient outcomes. As a key member of the US Nephrology medical team and reporting to the Nephrology Medical Director, this role is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the US medical strategy for antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) and IgA nephropathy (IgAN). Biogen’s priority is to continue to foster and enable a diverse and inclusive workforce – representing age, gender, sexual identity, race, ethnicity, Veterans, and people with disabilities – that reflects the communities where we operate and the patients who we serve.What You’ll DoContribute to the development and execution of the US medical strategy and tactics in AMR and IgAN.Serve as a key US Medical subject matter expert for important cross-functional partners (e.g. US Field Medical, Global Medical, Clinical Development, Epidemiology, Pharmacovigilance, Commercial, Market Access). Collaborate with global, regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure all medical activities are aligned with global medical strategy and that Global Medical is sufficiently aware of the US-based insights and needs.Understand the local business needs and provide insights to the local commercial teams to ensure their plans are in alignment with the medical strategy.Build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders (including KMEs, healthcare institutions and advocacy groups) in the AMR and IgAN therapeutic landscape.As a content expert, contribute to the development/adaptation of medical materials consistent with DSMR/PRC requirements (e.g. presentations, training materials, medical briefs and talking points) for internal colleagues as well as proactive and reactive resources for use in engagements with external stake holders.Drive the pull through of medical strategy into tactics by conducting Advisory Board meetings, driving evidence generation projects, and contributing to congress publications.Who You AreYou are a scientific or clinical professional with a passion for science and deep scientific knowledge in transplant or glomerular nephrology. You have a marked curiosity about healthcare and business opportunities. You keep patients, payers, and physicians top of mind in your daily work and collaborate to solve critical scientific and business challenges.Required skillsMD, PhD, PharmD or comparable advanced degree is required.Minimum of 3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with prior work in Headquarters-based Medical Affairs role &/or Field Medical based role. Substitution of industry work with relevant transplant and nephrology clinical practice experience may be considered.Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively operate and exert influence within a highly matrixed organization Preferred Skills Subject matter expertise in transplant or glomerular nephrology is optimalExperience with medical launch as well as products at different stages of the lifecycleStrong working knowledge of US regulations as relevant to Medical AffairsDemonstrated ability to effectively lead and collaborate with global, regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure regional activities are executed in alignment with global medical strategy and ensuring the insights and needs from them are known and properly addressedAbility to manage projects and take initiative to solve complex and challenging problemsExcellent written and oral communication skills to include presentationsWhy Biogen?Our mission to find therapies for neurological and rare diseases is a unique focus within our industry and this shared purpose is what connects us as a team. Together, we thrive.Job Level: ManagementAdditional InformationThe base compensation range for this role is: $183,000.00-$252,000.00Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
