Overview

Fuel & Propane Drivers safely deliver refined fuel and propane products and install, inspect, maintain and repair fuel and propane systems. This position combines DOT-regulated driving responsibilities with technical service work and requires strict adherence to safety, compliance, and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver refined fuel products and propane in a defined local territory, completing daily routes as assigned by the manager
• Load refined fuel and/or propane at terminals and maintain proper terminal access credentials
• Safely operate commercial vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies
• Properly use handheld systems to ensure accurate deliveries
• Safely access, pull, and connect fuel hoses to deliver fuel, then properly stow hoses for transport
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report concerns
• Install propane, refined fuel, and lubricant systems, including tank setting, painting, and site preparation, working individually or as part of a construction crew
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and service existing equipment and systems, including after-hours emergency service
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as directed
• Inspect all customer installations (tanks, pumps, regulators, lines, etc.) to ensure safe, dependable operations
• Handle all "out of gas" calls according to the company's procedures
• Participate in an on-call schedule and emergency response
• Maintain accurate inventory and records of parts, equipment, and all fixed assets assigned to the plant, including loaned customer equipment
• Ensure all documentation is timely and accurately completed and reported, including customer service documentation, credit application, propane tank lease and transfers
• Identify and timely communicate to management issues and feedback related to safety, efficiency, training needs and customer needs, questions, or concerns
• Present a positive image of MFA Oil Company to the community.
• Provide excellent customer service, communicating policies and procedures to customers, converting eligible customers to members, and using knowledge of company products and services to help meet customer needs and grow the business
• Clean and maintain truck, tools and equipment
• Work safely, following regulatory guidelines and company safety procedures in the completion of all duties
• Maintain all required certifications
• All MFA Oil employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials and become propane (CETP/PEP) certified as determined by the state(s) served
• Valid driver's license
• Ability and willingness to obtain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker, HAZMAT, and air brake endorsements within the first 90 days of employment, and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements per the vehicle requirements
• Ability to pass in person training and MFA Oil Company Record of Road test requiring operation of both manual and automatic transmission vehicles within 90 days of employment
• Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles in a variety of weather and road conditions
• Ability to move equipment and position self to move and retrieve products and supplies from shelves, under counters or stacks of inventory weighing up to 100 pounds, and lift 50-pound boxes to a height of 3-4 feet and load them into trucks
• Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or sitting) for up to nine hours per shift
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders to deliver fuel
• Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials
• Vision, hearing, speech, and the ability to detect odors
• Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, including handheld delivery tracking device
• Ability to consistently drive and work in outdoor weather conditions
• Availability to work a rotating on-call schedule, holidays, weekends, and after regular business as needed
• Reliable transportation to work
• 21 years of age or older
• Ability to exchange accurate information with MFA Oil Company customers in English
• Legal authorization to work in the United States of America
• Ability to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment drug screening, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), criminal background check, and MFA Oil Company road test

Preferred Skills

• CDL driving experience
• Training and/or experience in truck and equipment maintenance
• Mechanical skills (basic plumbing and electrical)
