Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Hours per Shift: 37.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience License: NYS RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Cardiac experience preferred Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and all members of the interdisciplinary patient care team. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing. Role models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through various actions including admission welcome, bedside shift report, and purposeful hourly rounding. Considers the patient's values, preferences, and cultural diversity in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family. Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and families with concerns. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue and actions. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying barriers and opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served. Implements process improvement strategies based on evidence-based guidelines. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and research studies. Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures. Implements principles of high reliability to provide a safe environment for patients. Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps from best practice as necessary. Documents nursing practice accurately and thoroughly in compliance with standards of care. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Contributes to the environment of care to support clinical colleagues, patients, and families. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice. Projects a professional image and communicates with styles that demonstrate caring and respect. Incorporates ethical principles into decision making for patients and families. Encourages and demonstrates a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, and life-long learning. Acquires knowledge and skills relevant to the role and patient population. Participates in shared decision making through nursing department committees and unit initiatives. Requires skills in ambulatory and radiation safety. EPIC experience is highly preferred.
