Closing Manager

Schedule: Full-time, primarily on-site with limited hybrid flexibility after the initial training period A growing mortgage organization is seeking an experienced Closing Operations Manager to help develop and lead an internal closing function. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can manage day-to-day closing activity while building the processes, controls, and team structure needed to support future growth. The position will oversee late-stage loan operations from Closing Disclosure preparation through funding, post-closing, collateral management, and investor delivery. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement standardized workflows for pre-closing, closing, funding, and post-closing activities. Oversee Closing Disclosure preparation, fee balancing, final loan review, and closing package accuracy. Coordinate with title companies, settlement agents, attorneys, warehouse lenders, investors, and internal operations teams. Ensure loans are compliant, complete, and ready to close, fund, and deliver within required timelines. Support loan origination system implementation, workflow testing, document generation, and process improvements. Monitor closing pipelines, lock expirations, funding deadlines, investor conditions, and aging loans. Manage collateral tracking, trailing documents, purchase suspense items, and investor delivery requirements. Oversee warehouse funding activity, loan paydowns, reconciliations, and aging exposure. Establish reporting, quality controls, service expectations, and escalation procedures. Hire, train, coach, and manage closing and post-closing team members as the department expands. Partner with underwriting, processing, disclosures, finance, sales, and operations leadership to improve loan handoffs and borrower experience. Qualifications At least five years of mortgage closing experience. Strong knowledge of Closing Disclosures, TRID requirements, fee tolerances, and closing compliance. Experience balancing loans with title companies, attorneys, or settlement providers. Previous experience improving, developing, or leading a closing or post-closing operation. Experience with loan origination system changes, workflow implementation, or operational transformation is highly preferred. Familiarity with funding, collateral management, warehouse lending, investor delivery, and loan purchase processes. Prior leadership experience as a manager, team lead, or senior subject-matter expert. Ability to work strategically while remaining actively involved in daily operations. Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage competing deadlines in a high-volume environment.
